How To Go For Morning Walk

Steps:

  1. Set your alarm. A good time would be 20 minutes before the time you'll usually get up to get out of the house for a job.
  2. Plan your route. This will prevent you from getting lost.
  3. Wash your face. Splash some water into your face to help to wake yourself up.
  4. Get dressed. Dress according to the weather; if it's cold, wear a jacket and some sweat pants, especially if it might rain. It it's hot, wear a T-shirt (or not if it's that hot) and shorts. Shop for clothing which wicks sweat away from your body.
  5. Put on your socks and shoes. Make sure you can run comfortably in them.
  6. Tune into your Ipod or MP3 player (optional).
  7. Make sure to have a watch and bottle of water with you. Keep your keys near your door before you get going -- best to be safe than sorry!
  8. Spray on some deodorant; you have to be concentrating on running, not wiping off your sweat!
  9. Get out of the house. You can either start walking and warm up, or just start running.
  10. You should pump your arms to get more out of your workout. Pump them like pistons, parallel to your body, not crosswise as that is counterproductive. Hold your hands like you're holding a large invisible straw.
  11. Keep running. Run until you start to feel tired. If you run back when you're already tired, you probably won't be able to run the entire distance.
  12. Stay on the sidewalks, if you can, to avoid making drivers go around you.
  13. After five minutes or so, do some stretches. Touch your toes, back stretches, knee stretches, arm stretches, and so on.
  14. If you're running, make sure not to suddenly stop at the end of your jog or run. This will make you stiffen up. Try walking for 2-5 minutes after you're done. You should always do a cool-down at the end of your workout. That is simply a slower version of your walk or run.
  15. Stretch, take a shower and change after you're done.

Tips:

  • Taking a shower is not a good idea right after a jog, your body needs to cool off for a while, otherwise you may sweat after you are finished showering.
  • Keep your alarm clock at least a meter or two away from your bed so you have to get up to turn it off. Do not go back to bed! It will make you go back to sleep.
  • If you have long hair, consider tying it back into a ponytail.
  • Eat something light after a run to feel back up to the job the next day.

Warning:

  • If you are running a very long distance, then make sure that you know how to get back! You don't want to get lost.
  • If you live in an unsafe area, wait until after the sun has risen before you go running. Also, in this situation, you may want to avoid listening to music for two simple reasons- you want to be aware of your surroundings, and you don't want to get that expensive iPod stolen.
  • Never stretch before running. Do a light warmup first, then stretch, or else injury may ensue
